What Factors Affect the Light Energy Received by the Conformal Coating ?
There are three core categories of factors that affect the light energy received by conformal coating ,especially UV-curable conformal coating:
- Light Source Characteristics
The higher the light source power and the longer the irradiation time, the stronger the light energy. The wavelength must match the photosensitive system of the conformal coating (e.g., UV conformal coating are suitable for wavelengths of 365–405 nm); otherwise, effective absorption cannot be achieved.Conformal Coating Properties
The darker the conformal coating color (such as black or dark colors), the stronger the light absorption and shielding, resulting in less light energy received by the underlying conformal coating. Excessive adhesive thickness will lead to insufficient light penetration, causing surface curing while the bottom layer remains uncured.
Environmental and Application Factors
The greater the irradiation distance, the more significant the light energy attenuation. Obstacles in the light propagation path (such as components and impurities) will block light. Dust and moisture in the environment will also slightly weaken light energy transmission.
